Community Outreach

BelPres supports agencies and ministries prayerfully and financially. We also work hard to connect our community with what God is doing in the local Bellevue area. Where is God calling you?

kidREACH

Our mission is to provide academic support, build relationships with students and share the love of Christ through our actions.

Do you want to be a significant influence in the life of a student? You can serve in a meaningful way by spending one evening per week tutoring an underserved student. KidREACH students face academic challenges and their families are unable to provide the support they need. The program offers free one-on-one tutoring for students in grades K-12 and meets in the Upper Campus of BelPres on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8pm. The program currently has students enrolled in almost all grades.

As a tutor you will not only support a student academically, but you will have the opportunity to walk alongside and share God’s love with him/her. Tutors can have a positive impact on a student’s life by encouraging and appreciating them, celebrating their progress, supporting them in their struggles, and loving them as Jesus does. Please pray and consider being involved with KidREACH. We are looking for tutors, one-time volunteers for different events and people to fill leadership roles. Look at the volunteer descriptions and one-time service opportunities below to learn more.

Baby Basics Bellevue

Providing the Basics to Babies

Baby Basics is a national non-profit that provides diapers to low-income working families in communities all over the United States. Baby Basics Bellevue is an all-volunteer supported non-profit where 100% of donations are used exclusively for the purchase of diapers. They provide diapers to low-income working families who are struggling to make ends meet and living on the edge of poverty. The families in the program are not receiving any state or government cash assistance, and may or may not be receiving food stamps.

Families are introduced to the program from various referral agencies. When entering the program the family signs a contract with Baby Basics Bellevue assuring that at least one family member will attend the bi-monthly diaper distributions.

The Families We Serve

The families that BBB serves are low-income families in Bellevue. They may be experiencing a temporary setback due to the loss of a better paying job, health issues in the family, or lack of better opportunities due to the current job market. BBB offers a safe place for families to receive free diapers, encouragement, and when needed, referrals for additional community programs and services.

About half of the families in the Baby Basics program are referred to us by the Bellevue School District. For the 2013-14 school year Bellevue School District reported 21% of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. In some schools in Bellevue the number is as high as 67%. No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted. –Aesop

 Support by Volunteering

Our highest priority is to eliminate diaper need in our community and to bring families into community, but we can only do it through the dedication of volunteers. While the funding is in place to help more families in need, our volunteer base needs to grow in order to facilitate bringing more families into the program. Volunteering and giving the gift of your time, expertise, and kindness is vital in order to nurture and grow the BBB program. For more information, please contact Kim Stone.
