Our periodicals cover many facets of the current Christian life – from politics to families, archaeology, senior life, children’s devotionals, and many more.  Most are located in the Welcome Room just inside the door, while the children and family issues are located in the 3rd floor rotunda.  We hope you take advantage of our wide variety of periodicals which offer richness and a wide view of the Christian life.  Our selection includes:

Biblical Archaeology Review – Interesting articles highlighting both current and past archaeological finds as related to the Bible.  Many ancient locations are referenced as well as biblical personalities and languages.  Controversial topics are also addressed.

The Christian Century – “Thinking Critically. Living Faithfully.”  Political and social perspectives on the Christian church.  Usually has one main topic dealt with in-depth, along with other current and controversial topics.  Also contains book reviews, media and art coverage, poetry, and editorials.

Christian History – Have a perplexing question about some minutia of biblical history?  You can probably find the answer in this magazine.  Interesting insights for history buffs.

Christian Research Journal – “Equipping you in doctrine, defense, and discernment.  Covering controversial Christian issues in a measured and dispassionate manner,”  often presenting both sides of the argument.  They hold the apologists’ view to “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect”  (I Peter 3:15)

Christianity Today – Articles pertaining to current Christian culture in the world.  Appeals to different age- and interest-groups.  Also editorials and snipits of information to whet your appetite for a more in-depth look.  This magazine may also be accessed online by clicking on christianitytoday.com, then using the Login: LibraryAdmin@belpres.org and password Ilive4Jesus (I live 4 Jesus but without spaces).

Decision – The magazine of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.  Topics of assurance, stories of personal commitment, and updates on events happening all over the world to bring people to Christ.

Focus on the Family Club House – Stories, factoids, relationship games, recipes, Q&A for the middle schooler.

Homelife – “A fresh take on faith & family.”  Using a theme of “Grow, Nurture, Improve”, both the feature and department articles follow this format.  The articles address topics of marriage, finances, hospitality, and growth of faith while the departments look at family time, holidays, parenting suggestions, and recipes, to name just a few.  Something for everyone.

Just Between Us – “Encouraging & equipping women for a life of faith”.  Edited by author and motivational speaker Jill Briscoe, articles relevant to all ages of women are presented.  Also look for regular features including Funny Bones, Marriage Matters, Get Organized!, and Managing Your Emotions.

Living with Loss – “Hope & Healing for the Body, Mind, & Spirit.”  A wide range of articles addressing grief situations and questions including suicide, death during war, drug overdose, and the loss of your soulmate.  Very comforting and practical.

Parenting Teens – “Know. Grow. Become.”  Each issue contains articles falling under one of these headings:  Know presents information about topics teens are thinking about; Grow looks at areas in which changes might be needed; and Become pursues how the future will shape your teen. 

Presbyterians Today – A well-rounded presentation of Presbyterian issues and activities, from General Assembly to the local church.  Regular columns entitled Faith Seeking Understanding, Around the World, Bible Explorations, and The Church in Society can be found.

Pockets – For school-age children and Christian educators.  Has stories, games, practical helps, as well as monthly blurbs on missions, scripture memorization, amazing kids, and faith heroes.

Relevant – “The magazine on faith, culture, and intentional living.”  Geared toward the Young Adult age group, this periodical contains articles on current topics from a Christian perspective.  Recent subjects include sustainability, entrepreneurism, high tech solutions for the developing world, and simplifying your faith.  Also Music, Movie, Book, Podcast, and TV recommendations.  Table of Contents is on the back page.

Significant Living “Celebrating life and faith for today’s Christian”.  Articles and stories about Christians living a life of faith in their families, neighborhoods, and communities.  Contains columns addressing singles, money, travel, and other interesting questions.

Sojourners – “Faith in Action for Social Justice”.  Each issue has a theme around which articles are written as well as other Feature articles, social issues in the culture, editorials, and even some poetry.

Thriving Family – For parents by the Focus on the Family ministry.  Articles for parents of all ages and stages such as building a strong family identity, everyday opportunities to show your love, discipline, and sexpectations.
