Facing Racism Bible Study

Wednesdays, Sep 19 – Oct 24, 6:30-8:00pm, UC -325

The racial divide is a key indicator of the brokenness of our world and an imperative for Christians to strive towards shalom. The effort to understand race and the pursuit of racial reconciliation can be a confounding endeavor.

“Facing Racism” 6-week Bible Study will guide us towards a deeper understanding of this issue that breaks God’s heart. Enter this study with your eyes wide open to this sensitive and difficult topic, and join us in asking what a Beloved Community without the effects of past and present racism would look like. Let’s take a step towards that vision together. Come to all or come when you can as each week covers a different topic.

  • Study facilitators:
    • William Starks: A longtime BelPres church member, William brings a lot of personal experience and wisdom on this topic. He looks forward to sharing these valuable resources widely.
    • Alyssa Caulley: Alyssa facilitated the first round of this study as a way to learn and personally grow in this area. She was incredibly blessed by the study community and call to work in this area.
  • During the Fall session,  there are activities for kids of all ages and free childcare offered by Family Life Ministries.

Please email Alyssa alyssacaulley@gmail.com to RSVP to receive materials and announcements.

If you would like to study this curriculum with your small group over the summer, please contact justice@belpres.org.  We’d be glad to provide you with the study guides.
