Upcoming Music + Worship Events
Mozart’s transcendent Requiem in the completion by Robert Levin is featured in an all-Mozart concert in the sanctuary on Saturday, April 1 at 7:30pm. Soloists Melina Pyron, mezzo, Ben Cleveland, tenor, and Ryan Bede, baritone. Also on the program: Exultate jubilate, sung by soprano Carissa Castaldo, Ave verum corpus and Sonata in C KV329.
An evening of Mozart in one of Bellevue’s finest acoustics, just north of downtown with free parking!
The majestic Sonata in C K.329 was likely intended for Easter Sunday in 1779 in conjunction with the “Coronation Mass”.
“Ave verum”, written just 4 months before Mozart began work on the Requiem has been described as the most beautiful 46 measures of music ever written.
The exuberant “Exsultate jubilate”, written by the 16 year old Mozart is an exquisitely crafted and tremendously virtuosic motet, or have some called it, a “concerto” for soprano!
Robert Levin’s completion of Mozart’s transcendent masterpiece respects the historical and performance traditions of Ebyler and Sussmayer while cleansing the work of the errors and un-Mozartean stylistic elements to create a transparent orchestration and stunning completion of the fugal sections left incomplete by Mozart’s contemporaries. Here is a rare opportunity to experience Mozart’s magnificent Requiem anew!
