Parenting class: Big feelings

For many parents the thought of the coming “teenage years” is enough to incite panic in us.  What is happening to my sweet boy or girl who is morphing into what seems like a bundle of hormones and angst?  What should we expect as our kids grow?  To move from panic to peace, however, we might need a change of perspective and a better understanding of what our kids are going through.  This upcoming series will help you develop more compassion and understanding for your teenager as they are wrestling with big feelings.  Join us for any or all of the upcoming weeks as we explore this topic together.

  • Week 1:  Your Teenager is Not Crazy:  An overview of adolescent brain development and “big feelings”.

  • Week 2:  So Stressed Out!: Part 1:  A look at stress/anxiety and how to respond.

  • Week 3:  So Stressed Out!: Part 2: An Adolescents emotional connection with food.

  • Week 4:  I Hate My Life:  Understanding depression and how to care for our kids.

  • Week 5: Relief From Pain:  Self-harm and suicidal thoughts

  • Week 6: I’m Losing My Mind:  How to care for ourselves and receive support
