Small Groups for Men

Christ & Culture Forum

This group meets on Tuesday mornings from 6:30-7:45am in S-137 (Welcome Room).

Christ and Culture Men’s Group has been meeting for over 10 years, first organized by Bruce Baker, a past Executive Pastor.  Issues of faith and action have been explored through the framework of secular and sacred literature.  Both fiction and non fiction works open the diversity of cultures over time and space, allowing us to discuss experiences of identity, race, socioeconomic status, religion, and worldview.  Our goals are to understand God’s world and it’s joys and sorrows, find common cause with all God’s children, to bring justice, shalom, and healing.  Missional living requires deep understanding and the Spirit’s guidance, otherwise we are unduly influenced by what our society seems best; we are confident that God’s truth has the answers that the world is seeking.  Rather than just rumination or interesting intellectual discussion, our goal is to better serve in our work, neighborhood, and volunteer service.

We meet weekly at 6:30 AM-7:45 AM in the Welcome Room S 137.  Literature is chosen by consensus, and generally about 75 pages are discussed each week.  Different men facilitate discussion depending on background. About 10-15 men attend, depending on the interest in the text.  We are open to men of any age, race, religion, or worldview, and we have men from other churches attend as well.
