Christ & Culture

This group meets on Tuesday mornings from 6:30-7:45am in S-137 (Welcome Room).

They use fiction and expository literature to address spiritual issues and to find the answers God has given in the revelation of scripture, the life of Jesus, Creation, the Holy Spirit and in the history of the Church.

We are equipping men to understand and engage the world and to listen to what culture is saying and respond effectively. We listen to questions and doubts in order to strengthen how we see God working in the world, in history and in our time, and to learn to serve in ways that would bring honor to the Kingdom.

Our group will be starting Abraham Kuyper: Modern Calvinist, Christian Democrat by James Bratt on January 23.  It is a book of general interest to our congregation, since it explores the life of a Christian (and even Calvinist) politician who was Prime Minister of The Netherlands, a pluralistic society, as well as a theologian.  His life is a great model for those of us choosing to be active citizens in our own country.

The Cascade Fellows program is one reflection of his work.

“Our Story- God’s Story”

“This is what it looks like to be human beings. In the reading, as we submit our lives to what we read, we find that we are not being led to see God in our stories but to see our stories in God’s. God is in the larger context and plot in which our stories find themselves.” Eugene Peterson

Join women of every life-stage as we explore 1 & 2 Samuel and share life together. Large lecture format followed by intimate table group discussion. Grow in faith and community in a laid-back, multi-generational study.

Every several weeks we put our faith in action by hosting a brunch for the students and staff of Eastside Academy.
