Learning to summit

As a young professional, I often think I’m supposed to have it all figured out. But instead, I frequently feel like I’ve hit the “awkward teenage” phase of my career. I’m eagerly taking on a rapidly growing list of responsibilities and leadership roles, but I don’t necessarily have enough experience and confidence to guide some of the key decisions headed my way. Last year, the Global Leadership Summit was a reminder of all the ways the Lord was guiding my decisions in every single aspect of my life, and that being a leader isn’t just about how I manage projects or a team from 9-5. It is about how I live every moment of every day.

There are so many words that come to mind when I think of my experience at the Global Leadership Summit last year. As a relative newcomer to BelPres, I had never heard of the Summit before, and to be honest, I was more than a little confused and skeptical of the logistics. The idea of that many people all participating in one summit just seemed crazy and impossible!

And crazy it was.

Crazy inspirational; crazy motivational; crazy life changing.

From the moment the first session started, I felt immediately connected – not only to those attending at BelPres, but to the thousands of people watching around the world.  Thanks to the wonders of technology, it honestly felt like I was right there in the auditorium.

“Together, we laughed, prayer, cried, sand, and felt the love of Christ.”

Together, we laughed, prayed, cried, sang, and felt the love of Christ. It was the perfect example of how God knows each of our needs because it was amazing to see how each of the messages impacted and spoke to all of us a little differently, meeting us where we were at in our personal journeys.

As a Seattle transplant, perhaps one of my favorite aspects of the whole experience was an opportunity to connect with fellow Christians throughout the Seattle area. The Summit helped me to feel part of the greater community, and part of something bigger than myself.

If you are even the slightest bit curious about what the Summit experience is like, I encourage you to give it a try!

The 2015 Summit is August 6 and 7 and promises to be outstanding.
